I finally managed to leave the country (after having convinced people to go out for leaving drinks several times). I’ve made it as far as Hong Kong, where there is an overwhelming urge to buy gadgets I don’t need as they are so much cheaper than in the UK. I only have 2 hours here so I will have to leave before I succumb to the pressure.
Hong Kong airport is very pleasant, there’s even free WiFi (hence the post).
I’m back at my folks for a couple of weeks before heading off to NZ. I’d forgotten how painful it is to use the internet using dialup. I’ve sorted out broadband for them, unfortunately I’ll only get to use it for one day before I leave 
While I was throwing out all the stuff I left behind when I moved out of my parent’s place years ago, I found loads of old photos. The nice people at Boots are digitising them for me as I type so I’ll post them up to Flickr when they’re done.
You’ll be pleased to know there are plenty of embarrassing ones of me
